PROP ONLY GUNS The guns on this page are for use as costume props only. They are not capable of firing blanks or live ammunition of any sort. In general these guns are of two types; Resin guns are made from synthetic or chemically modified natural resins. The liquid form of the resin is poured into molds that exactly replicate their "real" counterparts. These are the kind often used in film as they are fairly durable and can easily be textured, colored and weathered. Keep in mind, however, that they will still chip or break if treated roughly. This type of prop gun is slightly more expensive than Plastic/Metal Composites. Plastic/Metal Composite guns are from various sources, including Airsoft guns that were once capable of firing small rubber pellets. They are made to scale and look like their "real" counterparts but are generally lighter and more fragile. Most are a combination of plastic and cast metal that looks great but will not survive many drops. IMPORTANT Every firearm, whether non-functional
reproductions, blank-firing theatrical guns or "real" guns,
MUST be treated as though they were actual live ammunition
firing weapons. We will provide detailed written information on safety and operation for each firearm that we provide and will be glad to answer any questions that you may have. However, there is no substitute for an experienced Fight Director/Weapons Coordinator and one should be consulted any time firearms are to be used. We at Preferred Arms and the instructors at the New York based stage combat school Combat Incorporated will be more than happy to provide these services for those in or around the New York-Washington, D.C.-New Jersey-Connecticut area. Remember, if you have questions at all, drop us an email. ** (Fully automatic guns such as machine guns, sub-machine guns, assault rifles, etc. will continue to fire as long as the trigger is held down and the ammunition lasts.)
*Note that we are unable to ship even prop firearms to New York City and many surrounding states. Please know your state's laws regarding shipping, carrying and using any sort of firearms. "We will rent no weapon that we would not personally use ourselves." |
