ABOUT US

Preferred Arms was begun by Robb Hunter (click here for complete c.v.), a Washington D.C. (formerly New York City) based Fight Director and Society of American Fight Directors* Certified Teacher of Stage Combat, to create...

A reliable and professional theatrical weapons resource dedicated to providing quality, safe weapons that are truly "stage combat worthy."

* Founded in 1977, the S.A.F.D. is an organization
"dedicated to promoting safety and fostering excellence in the art of directing staged combat/theatrical violence."

Unfortunately, actors are all too often provided with weapons that are woefully inadequate, even dangerous to use. Usually, this happens due to budgetary restrictions or a lack of knowledge about theatrical weaponry. (Click HERE to find out more about Stage Combat Worthy blades and their "less than adequate" counterparts.) At Preferred Arms, we have the expertise to assist you and our Prices should be pretty easy on your budget. We even have discounts available for large orders, repeat customers, etc.

Drawing on over a dozen years of "hands on" experience, Preferred Arms chooses only weapons that are specifically designed for the rigors of stage combat. Our suppliers build weapons for theatre, opera, film, television, renaissance faires, and stage combat programs for universities, conservatories and private schools all over the world.

Once in our care, each weapon is meticulously maintained and frequently inspected for signs of wear. If a weapon is damaged or a blade begins to show signs of age, we replace it immediately. The motto we live by is;

"We will rent no weapon that we would not personally use ourselves."
